As of December 1st, 2019 Hagerstown Dermatology & Skincare is switching to a Direct Pay practice model.
The Direct-Pay model for medical care is simple and transparent. In the direct-pay model, there are no surprise bills. Patients will be informed about the cost of the visit and any procedures in advance. (Click here for Fee Schedule for pricing.) The Direct Pay model allows the practice to see all patients regardless if they have health insurance or not.
Patients who have commercial insurance can use direct-pay services. They will be responsible for the cost of the visit and, if they have out-of-network benefits, their insurance company may reimburse them for some or all of the costs for the visit.
Our staff will provide patients with a “Statement of Service” which patients can submit for reimbursement. Patients who have HSA accounts can use those accounts to pay for their direct-pay visits. Other acceptable forms of payment are Debit, Cash, or credit cards such as Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or Discover.
Unfortunately, over the past few years, insurance carriers are reimbursing medical providers less every year and this trend will continue in the coming years. This trend will force our practice to add considerable more patients to our daily schedules thus decreasing level of care and rushing through appointments.
Our mission and purpose is to maintain our dedicated quality of care to our patients and to offer the same amount of time that each patient deserves when they are seen for a visit. We refuse to turn into a factory run practice model. As of December 1, 2019, we will no longer participate as in-network providers for all insurance companies including Medicare.
However, this DOES mean we can still see you as a patient. You will receive a letter from you insurance company stating that we are no longer in network and that you need to find another provider. However to clarify that statement from them, you can still be seen at our office and we will provide you a statement of services so that you can be reimbursed by your insurance company.
With this new direct pay model, patients will pay for their visit at the time of service. If you have a high deductible or high co-pay insurance plan, you may find this fee schedule to be more cost effective. In addition, we will be able to schedule patients in a more timely manner.
If you have questions specific to you and your family please feel free to call us during our normal business hours at 240-469-4835 or 301-298-1818. We are look forward to seeing you very soon and we truly appreciate all your support and patronage.
