A Longer Lasting Botox Alternative Is On the Way
Revance Therapeutics is developing a longer-lasting neurotoxin, currently known as RT002 and contend the neurotoxin can produce cosmetic benefits for up to 6 months. This is a significant improvement over Botox, which only lasts 3-4 months.
However, the product is still in clinical trials and not yet approved for public use.
Revance is currently conducting a study with more than 2,500 participants and hopes to show that RT002 (Daxibotulinumtoxin A) has a similar safety profile to Botox, but lasts much longer.
What Are the Benefits of RT002 (Daxibotulinumtoxin A)?
According to Revance, the key advantage of RT002 is its ability to relax wrinkles and lines for up to 6 months.
If these claims prove to be true, RT002 could provide patients with a longer lasting Botox alternative, reduce the number of office visits, and make it easier for people to maintain neurotoxin results.
The pending arrival of RT002 may also benefit patients who undergo dermal fillers as well as neurotoxin injections. If these individuals were to switch from Botox to RT002, they could readily coordinate their neurotoxin and fillers appointments and see their injector just once or twice a year.
