Men and women are not that different, after all. Both find equality when it comes to signs of aging.

For decades now, ladies have managed to turn back the hands of time with Botox injections. And now dudes are getting on board—the American Society of Plastic Surgeons reported a sharp increase in Botox among men in recent years—including one Alaskan native, Nathan Oxner.

Oxner has been receiving injections at Alaska Body Aesthetics for the past four years and is overjoyed with the benefits from what has been dubbed “Brotox.”

“I’m very expressive with my face but I didn’t like the lines that were starting to form,” Oxner said. “I have a scar on my forehead between my eyes you hardly notice anymore, the furrows with the expression also isn’t as deep as it used to be and a lot of the crow’s feet, the wrinkling around the eyes aren’t as deep as they used to be.”

The lead medical Aesthetician Natasha Lindow says Oxner is not the only one. In just the last two years, the clinic as experienced a 35 percent increase in male patients for services like Botox and Kybella, a double-chin treatment.

“Men have the same concerns as women do as they get older,” Lindow said. “They want to look good, they want to feel good. Feeling good goes along with feeling healthy.”

Botox can help you feel better in more ways than one. The injection is also used to treat excessive sweating, migraines and muscular disorders. Rare side effects include eyelid drooping, swelling, dry mouth and slight discomfort around the injection site.

The cost varies, depending on your location and how many injections your doctor recommends. But how well you feel about yourself afterwards is the great equalizer between both traditional Botox and now Brotox.
